Spooky Sixteen

Spooky Sixteen: Day Two

Working from home means you’re constantly busy, so I had to double up! And a completely unintentional Johnny Depp two-fer.

First up…

Tim Burton’s, The Corpse Bride.

A Tim Burton film with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter? I’M SHOCKED. It’s funny how after the fact, you can see the influence of this movie over others in the genre. Frankenweenie, Book of Life, etc.

Next up…

The one that started them all, A Nightmare on Elm Street. Before all the sequels, before he fought Jason, before the reboot with Rorshach, the original Freddy murdered Johnny Depp in a bed of blood, and then turned himself into a car. Full of 80s nostalgia and bad acting, I feel like this and Dream Warriors are the only two in the series worth my time. I liked the remake, but you just can’t recreate camp.
